You are invited to join me on my ‘Three Walks to Freedom’ series which aims to gradually build confidence in navigation, safety, walk planning and nature know-how. It consists of three day walks. Walk 1 will take place close to London and at a beginners level. Walks 2 and 3 will build on knowledge and skills, and the locations will become increasingly rural. The walks are spread throughout the year so that you can practice in between times. The aim is that at the end of the three walks you will be confident to plan and carry out your own adventures!
You can get a group of friends together or you can join solo. You will be walking in a fully inclusive and safe environment where EVERYONE is welcome.
THIS SERIES IS FOR YOU IF YOU ARE NEW TO WALKING AND THE OUTDOORS, IT IS NOT FOR YOU IF YOU ARE ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH MAP READING AND WALKING AWAY FROM YOUR LOCAL AREA. YOU MUST BE FIT ENOUGH TO WALK AT A SLOW TO MODERATE PACE (WITH RESTS) FOR 2 HOURS.

If you are thinking about booking, why not try one of my online courses to get you started?

Walk 1: Richmond Park, West London (Location tbc - I wish to avoid busy areas).
Train station: Richmond, 30 mins from Clapham Junction, or 20-30 mins from London Victoria on the District Line.

This historic Royal Park is a perfect place to start your journey. Whilst getting to know each other, we will start with basic map reading skills and seasonal observations of the natural world. We will hope to spot St Pauls Cathedral from King Henry’s Mound, and the famous red deer (not getting too close). We will walk among majestic ancient oaks, and search for small nature-clues as we journey at our own pace. Refreshments and amenities will be available.
Walk 2: Soaring with Kites, Goring and Streatley, Berkshire.
Train station: Goring and Streatley, approximately 1 hour from London Paddington.

The place where the River Thames cuts through this chalk escarpment is called the ‘Goring Gap’ and has been an important transport route for thousands of years. Today, ancient trails meet modern technology and nature abounds, sitting within the Chilterns, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We will journey along the river, through woodland, across farm land, and through nature reserves where wild flowers buzz with insect life and Red Kites soar above. There will be refreshment amenities at the start and end of this walk.
Walk 3: The Mystery and Magic of the Pewsey Vale, Wiltshire.
Train station: Pewsey, approximately 1 hour from London Paddington.

Journey into the heart of a magical Wiltshire landscape, filled with history and charm. Pass quaint thatched cottages, walk along ancient field systems, and see the famous Alton Barnes White Horse. If time allows we will learn about the mysterious crop circle phenomenon at a friendly canal side café. This will be a long day walk, with more challenge and less amenities, but huge reward!
If you are interested in a similar programme but in another location, please email me and I will see what I can do.
